  26.     SPECIAL ACCOUNT FOR UPLOAD USERS:

  35. That account is limited into STORE ONLY mode, NO RETRIEVALS.
  36. Only exceptions of that are README, and README.UPLOADER -files,
  37. which uploader can retrieve from any directory.

  41.     UPLOAD ACCEPTING AREAS:

  43. Following areas accept incoming files (left column), and their respective
  44. administration group(s) that should be informed about those uploads (right
  45. column.)  Addresses at right are valid at  ftp.funet.fi, thus you must
  46. address  "msdos-adm"  as "msdos-adm@ftp.funet.fi".

  103.     WHAT IS CONSIDERED UPLOADABLE, AND WHAT IS NOT:

  105.     In principle we can accept anything that is `Freely distributable',
  106. or `Public domain'.    Materials which are  clearly under  publication  and
  107. distribution  limiting  copyrights  somewhere  (like  scanned  images  from
  108. magazines - referring to GIF images independent of their `ratings') are not
  109. accepted -- unless you (uploader) provide  acceptable proof of limit waiver
  110. for distribution using our methods.  (Printed, signed letterhead or anything
  111. else juridically acceptable.)

  113.     Also, for various ethical and political reasons the infamous X-rated
  114. GIF images are banned.
  115.

  118.     FTP SERVER FEATURES REGARDING UPLOAD:

  121. All  upload areas  are with protection 777 - world writable.
  122. FTPD program writes all anonymously uploaded files with protection
  123. 062 - world writable, but not world nor owner readable.
  124. Thus ANONYMOUS will not see nor be able to fetch them.
  125. (At store time, file owner is FTP, but owners abilities over files
  126.  are disabled in this case.)

  128. For short:    UPLOADING IS ALLOWED, BUT ALL PRESENTATION MATERIAL
  129.         MUST GO VIA MODERATORS.  ALWAYS.
  130.  
  131. This setup is enforced by disabling anonymous user from using following
  132. FTP protocol primitives:
  133.     DELE, SITE CHMOD, RNFR, RNTO
  134.  
  135. When file already exists - altough without being visible,  STOR (put)
  136. is not accepted.  You must try with another name.

  139.     WHAT TO DO ONCE YOU UPLOAD:

  141. WHEN YOU UPLOAD. ALWAYS SEND MAIL TO AREA MODERATORS (mail aliases are
  142. listed above at chapter `UPLOAD ACCEPTING AREAS') ABOUT WHAT YOU STORED,
  143. WHERE, WHAT IT IS FOR, WHO MADE IT, WHO YOU ARE,... (What ever you think
  144. that might be usable to help our moderators to describe what is stored
  145. in here.)

  147. Within this system, everything that is visible has gone thru moderation
  148. effort.  (or plain horrible errors/bugs on our software...)

  152.     WHAT IF YOU CAN'T FIND AN AREA FOR UPLOAD ?

  154. If you want to upload something that doesn't have an area now, discuss
  155. about it with us.  See  above for all the mail lists/moderators that
  156. we at present have, and if none of AREAS is suitable, reach for `staff'
  157. people.  (And be persistent, if you don't hear from us right away. Much
  158. work...)
